Hey Amos888,

Increase the size of your icon cache and see where it takes.

If this cache is too small, Desktop icons may display improperly or show the wrong program's icons.

Step 1: Increase icon cache size.

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. Back up the registry

1.     Go to start and type regedit.exe.

2.     Navigate to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Explorer.

3.     Now create a DWORD value called Max Cached Icons and set its value to 4096.

4.     Close the registry editor.

5.     Restart the computer.

If the issue still persists, check if a third party service or application is causing this problem.
