Tech support scams are an industry-wide issue where scammers trick you into paying for unnecessary technical support services. You can help protect yourself from scammers by verifying that the contact is a Microsoft Agent or Microsoft Employee and that the phone number is an official Microsoft global customer service number.

I just upgraded to Windows 10. I can't open .wmv files with Windows Media Player. I can easily find the player, but when I try to play it I get this message:
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.
I don't know if this helps anyone else out, but this is an issue I am having.

Are you saying that windows movie maker wont play wmv or that you no longer have windows movie maker after upgrading?
if you don't have it, you can reinstall it, download windows essentials from
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/essentials-install-offline-faq
Apparently it runs fine in windows 10

I am having the same problem. I make the videos with Windows Movie Maker and save them to my PC. When I try to play them I get the message, that the file format is not supported. I can play the videos in the 'TV & Movie app, but only the audio is present, no video. There is no answer that I can find on the Microsoft web site for this problem.I just upgraded to Windows 10.
