Installing Windows 10 - ATI Radeon X1200 Display not supported!?

Hi

I have a Samsung R60+ laptop that has been running Windows 10 Tech Preview quite happily on a temporary hard drive. I've just put the original Windows 7 hard drive back into the laptop to upgrade to Windows 10 and the installer tells me that I can't upgrade because the graphics card is incompatible. IF this was true I wouldn't have expected the Tech Preview to work. Is there a way around this? I'm particularly keen to make this work as I've purchased a SSD specially to keep this laptop alive for another year or so.

What is the exact error message?

Are you getting this message while trying to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10?

The option to upgrade has now disappeared, (presumably because it doesn't think I can upgrade) so I can't see the error message anymore. It did get it when I was trying to upgrade from W7 to W10.

Hi,

here the same on a Toshiba Notebook I have bought in April 2008.

It came with Vista, ran with Windows 8.1 prof. just fine and has an X1200 Radeon graphics chip.

I updated via the media creation tool to Win10 and afterwards manually installed a driver (via device manager) from the driver package for Vista I had on the harddrive.

And that driver works. Display is at the native 1280 x 800 it should be, no yellow marks in device manager.

HTH + good luck

I have a Dell Inspiron 1521 with the ATI Radeon X1200 Display Adapter and I get the same message. I still have the "Get Windows 10" icon in my tray but when I click on it,I get the message displayed here. How can I contact the manufacturer for support?

Drivers for Vista 32/64

It is not an official AMD-site, so the package may contain malware.

Just unpack to a new directory and let the drivers be searched in subdirectories also.
