Windows 10 Store closes immediately after opening.

The windows 10 Store is not working for me.  Every time I click on it, the store pops up for a second and then immediately closes with no error code being shown.  Couple of things

1) I upgraded from windows 8.1 to 10 using the free upgrade provided.

2) I did not change the date or time.

3) Running wsreset.exe gives an error "ms-windows-store:PurgeCaches. The application cannot be started. Try reinstalling the application to fix the problem"

4) sfc /scannow show no corrupt file, it is 100% functional.

5) The powershell command does not work.  The store still crashes before getting to the loading screen.

6) Using a local account prompts the user to ask the admin to check/reinstall the store. It does not work.

7) For whatever reason, I sometimes get an error with powershell command where it says that it cannot find the path to AppxManifest.  It also says that AppxManifest does not exist.

8) I do not have a Windows Store (Beta).  I only have one that says Store.

9) I have restarted the computer multiple times already

I did a re-install of Windows on Windows 10.. the calculator works.. but not much else.

The most of the apps still open and then immediately close. My general feeling is there is a registry

component out of date and it thinks I am supposed to be using a older version of the software, but the one on my computer is newer.

So it opens, checks the version and then closes. purely a guess because I remove the Windows Store app then add it back but a general manifest attempt using the powershell to re-install references an earlier version

I just found another solution after hours of searching...

Just deactivate your Nividia graphics card by setting your prefered graphic card to the integrated one in the GeForce Experience center. Seems like it works now.

Bye and good luck!

I know this is a bit late.  But I just spent 3 hours with this issue here in 2016 and after trying every other piece of advice in this thread, this was the only comment that helped.

Alternatively, you can open the NVIDIA Control Panel and under the "Help" tab, click "Debug Mode".  Then open the store and download what you need.  I have no idea what that actually does.  But I clicked it rather than deactivating the card, and it worked right away.  Then I just clicked it back after downloading my app.

Thanks!

Hi,

Thank you for posting on the Microsoft Community. Let me assist you.

I suggest you to unhide the hidden folders on the system as AppData might be hidden by default. Open File Explorer, click on the File ribbon and Go to View tab under the Folder options, click Show hidden files, folders, and drives to check if you are able to find the AppData folder.

Hope this information is helpful. Please do let us know if you need further assistance, we’ll be glad to assist you.

Will give that a try. There is a new NVidia driver available for my PC. Will download and install that first.

Using the integrated driver is probably not a usable option at my end. IF that is the problem than Microsoft

did something weird on graphics end to their App updates.

Will post back if this fixes anything

Ok the NVidia update did nothing for me and did not expect it too..

I was able to finally fix it..

I did the take ownership of the "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps"

I have actually done this before without any changes and the windows store still did not work.

The only difference was I enabled inheritance this time and checked the box at the bottom right for replace object permissions on child objects

I'm with this guy.. there's something wrong here and i have tried umpteen "fixes" everything from powershell mumbo jumbo to disabling my nvidia vid card.. what the **** is going on??? My comp is upto date on ALL updates.

Refomating to factory is out of the question as I would lose too much time, it's a work comp.. i cant just stop work for a day to back up, reinstall windows.. install ALL my work applications.. restore files and docs.. SO it will just stay fubar...

Here's the deal.. no appstore.. me no buy apps..  Dear Microsoft.. fix it. Or lose money.

I'm going to get on my iPad in the meantime.. pretty sure the appstore works on there. Thx.

But of course the end user should not have to do ANY of this.

We need a simple uninstall/re-install process for apps, including the Windows Store.

We should also have administrator rights actually work when we are in the Administrators group.

I still have another issue involving changing the install location to fixed internal secondary drive and not

being able to delete or have control of that "WindowsApps" folder even though I am an administrattor and my effective rights say I have full control

Ok.. so i sat down on my iPad.. checked out facebook a min, played some Crossy Roads... calmed down and returned to my lappy to figure this out..

I have fixed it and it was right here all along.. i just wasn't doing it correctly.

This is what fixed mine..

In Powershell in Administrator mode (use Cortana to search "Powershell" then right click it and select "Open as Administrator") type:

get-appxpackage -allusers *windowsstore*

This will give you the version of WindowsStore u have... the next step is to use the code below in Powershell making sure to EDIT the code (this part: Microsoft.WindowsStore_2016.27.2.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe) below to YOUR version of WindowsStore... mine was "Microsoft.WindowsStore_2016.29.13.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe".. so i used this code in Powershell:

add-appxpackage -disabledevelopmentmode -register "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.WindowsStore_2016.29.13.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\AppXManifest.xml"

Once typed hit enter and wait.. once it completes try to open the store app. TADA! Thanks to everyone here and especially the fella that posted this code.
