Windows 10 mail desktop app - sent emails appearing in junk folder

I am using the windows 10 mail desktop app and have an issue with my sent mail. When I send an email, rather than appearing in sent mail folder it appears in my junk mail folder. If I then mark it as 'not junk' it copies the sent email to my inbox, archive and sent mail which is very annoying. I was wondering how to fix this - any help would be very appreciated!

I have 2 linked accounts on the desktop app and this issue only occurs with 1 of the accounts (my gmail account).

Thank you.

This is a known issue since a month or so. Microsoft told me they are invesitgating.

there is a workaround:

- Go to and logon
- Click "Settings", top right
- Click "Filters and blocked addresses"
- Click "Create a new filter"
- Put your email address into the "From" field
- Click "Create filter"
- On the next page, select "Never send it to Spam"
- Click "Create filter"

This will put a copy of the email in your inbox, not your sent items folder. To get the email in your sent items folder you have to set 3 actions on the filters: Do this: Skip Inbox, Apply label "Sent Items", Never send it to Spam.
Available 6 PM - 8 AM PST
