Unable to launch Windows App Store on Windows 10

Hi. I'm unable to launch the Windows app store. I keep getting error  0x80072EFD and 0x800ffff. I have tried disk check, windows store apps trouble shooter, resetting the windows store cache, disabling third party security software, using the system file checker tool and running the DISM tool all without success. I'm running windows 10 64-bit on a Lenovo yoga laptop. Any ideas?

Let's get this issue resolved by following the steps below:

Method 1: Date and Time settings

Make sure that the date and time are correct on the computer.

1. Press Windows key + X, select Control Panel.

2. Search for Date and Time, and then click on Date and Time.

3. Verify the date, time and time zone is correct as well as the Internet Time tab has the option to Synchronize with Internet time server.

Method 2: Re-register Windows Store app using Powershell

1. Click on Start and type in Powershell.

2. Right-click on Powershell and click on Run as Administrator.

3. Run the following in a Command Window to re-register:

powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.xml

Thanks so muuch for your response. Neither of those options worked. I received an error with Powershell that seems to indicate a file may be missing (I think(. I've attached a screenshot of the error. Hope this provides useful information.

Here are some few things to try:

Method 1: Delete the local cache of Windows Store

1. Navigate to this location:

C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.WindowsStore_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

2. Delete all the files and folders in this location. (replace user_name with your actual username on your computer. )

Method 2:

1. Click on Start and type in Powershell.

2. Right-click on Powershell and click on Run as Administrator.

3. Try to run this command below in Powershell:

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}.

Send all of your data (excluding pre-loaded data i.e. unnecessary bloatware) to an external solid state hard drive, unplug your SSD, and replace your old laptop with a new computer.
