Error code 0x80090016

I've gotten this problem since i had my computer in for repair.

I get the error when attempting to log in with pin, attempting to enter X-box live, trying to play Sea of Thieves and at some other occasions.

I've googled the problem and have tried restarting, restarting in safe mode and typing something into Powercell that i found online.

Please help me, how do i actually fix this?

Have you tried to get into safe mode?

At the sign in screen:
Hold down your shift key while selecting the Power button on the screen.
With the shift key still held down click Restart.
Continue to hold down the shift key until the Advanced Recovery Options menu appears.
Click Troubleshoot
Click Advanced options
Click Startup Settings
Click Restart
Select for Safe mode
Wait while Windows 10 starts in safe mode.
Log in trying to use your PIN then reboot the computer.

If that doesn't work you will need to create a new profile.
Go back to safe mode and login with administrator password.
Follow the steps in the link provided.

Once you login with new account you can move your files from your old user profile to the new one. I know it says Windows 7 but works still for Windows 10

Similar issue here, end user had been using a PIN to sign into their machine, and after their mainboard was replaced by a technician a few weeks ago, the PIN stopped working.  I had added the REG key to allow PIN's on a domain when I configured his machine 6 months ago.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System]
"AllowDomainPINLogon"=dword:00000001

However removing, rebooting and re-adding this did not resolve the issue.  We think its TPM related, but I am not sure what the next step to take is to get it re-activated

There is a more straightforward solution.

1. Go to Services and stop Cryptography Services

2. Go to C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto

3. Go to the folder S-xx-xx

4. Go to RSA folder and delete all files

5. Go to Keys folder and delete all files

6. Restart PC

7. Go to settings - users and reset your PIN, face recognition, and fingerprint, etc.

8. Restart and all should be ok !!
