Store is completely broken, WINDOWS/WinStore does not exist

Hi,

So I was recently suffering from this problem:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_store/solved-windows-10-store-login-error-we-encountered/deb605aa-43e8-4ebe-b99f-11282e7a03f4

I followed the solution, and created a new user account.

However, I now have the issue that when I open the store, I get the error message: "There's a problem with Store. Contact you system administrator about repairing or reinstalling it."

Upon attempting to run the command "add -appxpackage -disabledevelopmentmode -register $env:systemroot/winstore/appxmanifest.xml" I get the error "cannot find path 'c:/windows/winstore/appxmanifest.xml' because it does not exist."

And I've checked, it's not there.

And when I ran DISM, it said there was a problem, but when I tried to repair it, it said it couldn't find the source files.

So what can I do now?

The weird part is that the store app actually still starts on the other user account that I had to abandon because of the original problem.

Thanks

I've actually tried all of these methods numerous times, and still nothing.

It's especially strange because on the first account I had on this computer, the store doesn't get that error message, and the app actually loads. It's just that, as I said in the OP, none of the apps were signing in because my local account was corrupted somehow.

Same issue here.

When logging on locally with a live Id, there is no problem.

It is a combination of Windows 10 / domain user (local administrator) / Store.

Hi Tolle,

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I appreciate your interest in windows 10 and also for trying the troubleshooting steps to fix the issue. I understand the inconvenience you faced. I will help you with this.

This issue could have occurred due to corrupt user profile.

I would suggest you to create new user account and then try to copy files to the new user profile.

Follow the link to create new user account:

If new user account works, refer steps on how to copy files to the new user profile.

Copy old files to new profile:

a. Navigate to C:\Users\Corrupted_Profile_Name\. The profile name will be the corrupted profile name.

b. Copy all the files.

c. Open Control panel and Folder View options uncheck Hide protected operating system files.

d. Navigate to C:\Users\Corrupted_Profile_Name and copy Appdata folder.

Note: Do not copy these three files. NtUser.dat, NtUser.ini, NtUser.log.

e. Navigate to C:\Users\New_Profile_Name\.

f. Paste all those files here.

I hope this helps.
Let us know the status of the issue so that we can assist you better.

I have the same sort of problem. I have tried all of the above suggestions, and a few more besides.  It seems that the necessary files simply do not exist on my computer.  Might it not be possible to download WinStore in some form and reinstall it?

I too am facing the same problem. I tried to follow steps to reinstall preinstalled windows apps through running Powershell as administrator, but was faced with the message that a higher version already exists. After which, my once grayed out windows apps became even worst, in the sense that their names were gone and were replaced by names such as "@microsoft.windowscommunicationapps_17.6515.6402" for the mail app.

Please help, I've been trying so many things for so long.

I finally gave up, because the Windows Store wasn't the only thing not working.
So I reverted to Windows 7, fully intending to forget about Windows 10.

Then I had second thoughts and installed Windows 10 again.  Now the Store works just fine, but there are still other glitches—such as Google Chrome not opening on Startup even though I have it in the Startup folder.  My mail client, which is also there, does open as directed.

Windows 10 is still a work in progress, should not have been released yet.  We are the testers.  The unpaid, unappreciated testers.

Doesn't that make you feel special?
