Windows 10 isn't activated

I am a student, thus I had a genuine key for Windows 8.1 Pro N, which I used quite a long time without a problem. But after updating to Windows 10, it says, that Windows is not activated. How to proceed now?

I already tried to use my old key for W8.1 Pro N but that, obviously, did not work.

I do not want that comment in the lower right corner which indicates that Windows is not activated. I am definitely not going to buy a key for something which was praised as a 'free update'.

Thanks for any advice.

How did you carry out the upgrade.?

What is the status of activation in Settings > Update & security > Activation. Also what version does it say you have.

I used Microsofts MediaCreationTool to download it, because the normal download through Windows did not work, it always jumped back to 0% after finishing the download.

So you ran the setup from within Windows 8.1 so it should have activated automatically as part of the upgrade process. I think you will need to call customer services for help. Do you have your Windows 8.1 key available.

Afraid I don't know that. It will be local to your country, you'll need to call them. Just tried typing support in search and you get a result to try.
