Windows 10 Creators update and AMD Carrizo A10-8700 problems

Windows 10 Creators update won't install on a laptop with AMD A10-8700 cpu. The buck seems to be passed around, except on post seemed to suggest it was a Microsoft problem. Any news?
This processor model is not supported at this time. Microsoft is working with AMD on a fix and users will be notified through Windows Update when support is available.

Until then, my build will expire on May 1 and I will be stuck with a useless computer. Really bad situation considering I depend on my laptop. Hope someone from Microsoft can explain why I cannot get my work done to my employees.

  Hi Andre,

FINALLY!... A straight Answer. I've been to the HP... Microsoft ... AMD ... sites and of course no straight answers. Just a lot of finger pointing. Have you received this information Straight from Microsoft that they are working on a fix???... I sure hope so, cause my Laptop is just now only a year old. And was a rather expensive custom built HP model. Is this the processor type you are referring to???...

My specs are:

  • Windows 10 Home
  • version=  1607
  • OS Build= 14393.1066
  • Processor= AMD A10-8700P Radeon R6, 10 compute core 4C + 6G 1.80GHZ
  • Ram=        16.0GB
  • System Type= 64bit OS and 64 Processor
  • Touch support 10 point.
  • Current Most Resent Bio's F.41A
  • Hard Drive = 1 Terabyte (Only using 61GB of drive)

Thank-You for the help...

Yep, that is the one. The very same CPU I have and cannot upgrade because of compatibility issues with the creators update.

Hi Tim,

Thanks  for the reply. I've been reading some resent articles on the net. And from what I've read, Microsoft is aware of the problem and is currently working on a fix. They also say to just wait and Not and try to install the upgrade yourself. So far now, I think I'm just going to sit back and wait for Microsoft to offer me the upgrade through the Windows Update automatically.

Best Regards...

I'm also using Carrizo A10, any update on this issue? Is it resolved.

I installed it on my laptop with latest drivers from AMD but windows update installed 2yr old driver and now it is not taking new driver.  So for the time being I'm using Linux only.

Let us know when it is fixed.
