Hi Chris,

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

It’s really unfortunate that you are facing this issue. But don't worry we will try to help you out.

  • Which Operating system are you upgrading from (Windows 7 or Windows 8.1)?
  • When exactly do you receive this error? when  the download is about to compete or the Windows 10 installation?

I would suggest you to disconnect all the external devices except keyboard and mouse and then check if the issue persist.

Perform hardware Clean boot and then

Press Windows + R and type ‘devmgmt.msc’ and press Enter.

In the device manager Expand display adapter and right click on the display adapter and try to disable and try to boot to the desktop.

Note: Devices that can be disabled for doing a Hardware clean boot are:

a)     Display Adapters.

b)     Sound, video and game controllers.

c)     Network Adapters.

d)     USB Devices and controller (Please don’t disable this if you are using USB keyboard or Mouse or Wireless Keyboard or mouse).

e)     DVD/CD-ROM drives.

f)      Modems

g)     Ports

Hope this information is helpful. If issue persists, you can write to us and we will be glad to assist you further.

Forget about the automatic method for upgrading to Windows 10. It's reported to be a major headache. Follow the link below, download the Windows 10 ISO, and create an installation disc manually. Then run the "setup.exe" from the disc to quickly upgrade your system to Windows 10.

I have 9 computers at my house, and i upgraded all of them except for 1...

An unknown command-line option [/DynamicUpdate] was specified.

I have tried to upgrade the last one around 10 times. I have tried cleaning the system with Disk Cleaner and tried disabling the display adapter and some media hardware... Nothing changes the error. The worse part of this error is it happens after 20-30 minutes of downloading and Windows Setup process staging files locally. So to do something and retry is brutal...

I tried this and got a different error:

"Windows cannot read <Product Key> setting from unattend answer file"

I will try disabling all the devices you've listed in the hope it will work.

This worked for me.  I disabled everything on the list except the network adapter and USB.  Thank you, Sara Mohammedi - this had been driving me crazy!

Just make sure to:

1. install all updates for your current Windows version until it says "no more update", then

2. install or update to Windows 10

I had the exact problem. For me the fix was to disable the Ethernet driver(Intel I219-V Gigabit).

Note that while doing the upgrade you need an internet connection. In my case I used a separate WiFi card.

I had the same problems and this fixed it for me.   Dont go trying to update the Intel Ethernet driver after you (finally) get Windows 10 installed either.   It'll bork the whole system and you'll have to start over with a fresh install of your previous version of Windows.

Boo Intel

I had this problem as well.

I did everything people said in different forums. I spended 5-7 hours total in trying to come up with a solution for this problem and finally i found one.

What i had to do was first download windows 10 on a USB flashdrive.
Then i reinstalled my entire computer with my old Windows 7 cd.
I installed all the drivers for the motherboard + GPU
After that i installed the free Driver Booster 3 program and updated everything trough it.
Then i proceeded to boot my computer from the USB flash drive and now it worked perfectly and now i can enjoy Win10 again :)

Hope this can help someone in the future
