KB4015217 stuck on downloading update 95% for two hour now!!!

How can that be.

Firrstly it not just downloading is it? I mean it is also installing but the it's microsoft so all the message are sh*t.

Anyhow I just noticed windows module installer worker is running, so it is doing something now

however it was running before and then stopped and it looked like nothing much was happening,

hence I came here.

I am thinking perhaps ie may have to repair my system before it can insall new stuff

as the windows operating system tend to go bad quicker than something that goes bad

quickly ie...

Anyhow... Whilst I was trying to think os something that goes bad quickly the update finished!!!

It was on 95% for well over 2 hours. The up date must have taken 6 hours or more I estimate.

Now all that remains to be see if the machine still works when I reboot.

Anyhwo this mighht help some with a similar slow update?

UPDATE of and how it says updates are available

Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4015217).

It is on 70% of that.

It has earlier given me the option of installing the initial update now or later I chose later.

so a bit odd  still on 70% and will be there for some years to come no doubt.

Yea I just chose to post releavant info I mean I was just wondering if

my experience was the norm.

My machine is a win 10 Asus.

I an on 89% now of the update to the update which has not been installed as yet?

But maybe it is just installing the update I just got against my wishes?

Actually it is not installing it, it is prepareing to install it, so

it seem after over6 hours it has reached the stage where is it preparing

to install or in other words it has taken over 8 hours to do NOTHING

remarkable far for Microsoft!!

A Company so slow it is going backwards fast.

Still 89%.

OK has done that too and is ready to restart, so I'll see what happen next time I reboot. ( another massive

wait at best I expect, total system failure at worst, or actually it might be worse the machine

might blow up and kill me, maybe that functionality is in this upgade?

Hi, thanks for replying, the update is now downloaded and installed, however I

think a reboot is required for it to take effect, I will reboot later.

I also notice that I had an error in my event log for faulting program MRT.exe

which is the malicious software removal too. I guess they ran that as part of the update.

Anyhow I ran it my self manally and it ran but then I noticed the same error later,

I just ran it again this time as administrator and it ran again but this time there is no

errror in the eevent log..

So not sure what that is all about!!

Wel I rebooted OK.

I tend to get a few errors on the first reboot after an update or any "slow boot" it will be a slow

boot after an update I think.

Second boot had none of those errror just one error I always get which seems harmless, event 10016

which is some permissions thing, I always get one on shut down and startup, but no 'real world' problems

I am aware of.

Im also having trouble with this update on my Surface Pro 4 (Windows 10 Pro, 1607, 14393.969).

Its pretty much a fresh install since last months update also caused problems.
That update kept failing so did a reinstall. Now this months update is stuck on download at 95%.

My desktop of no particular brand (own "build") never had a problem so its kind of strange that Microsofts own Product is causing me troubles.

Dear friend,

I haven't read fully your post. But one thing is sure that for existence of something good and perfect there should be something opposite too. No piece of  truth( software, a statement, dimension so on ) can be 100 % true  because every dimensions are infinite. Something was invented  for the current state of time, space and matter  and it will  just become understood with lapse of time.  I hope the  same problem which i experienced  will get sorted out soon. Best luck. One final word  the more one understands, the more difficult will be to explain it.
