With the release of Windows 10 November Update (1511), and later versions such as the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (1607), you can switch directly to a 64 bit version of Windows 10 with or without a product key.

  • Switching to Windows 10 64 bit is free, you don't have to pay for it. As long as you have a qualifying Windows 7 or 8 or Windows 10 license, you are entitled to use it.
  • Switching requires that you perform a new installation, that means files, applications and settings will be deleted.
  • You will have to reinstall applications and native 64 bit drivers.

Step 1: Download Windows 10 64 bit then create a bootable copy:

ok, do I get this ISO for free?

Yes, you will them for free on Windows website

If it turns out my processor/hardware/software/system doesn't meet the requirements or isn't compatible, what will happen if I just go ahead and try to install the 64-bit Windows 10 and how can I go back to my old version of Windows?

Mine didn't work either. I downloaded the correct 64 bit ISO and did a full clean install but I'm still on 32 bit. Any advice please?

Same problem here, I hope someone can help us.

Same here.  Cpu meets requirements. Must be a bug.

Would I Still Get All The Windows 10 Updates, And Will My Computer Still Be Supported?

Well I have got it working at last. I started again and re downloaded the ISO from this page.

Originally I had downloaded the 64 bit but you need to download 32 bit as that is the system we are currently on. Later on you have the option to then choose 64 bit. Hope this works out for others.

Hi Baz101,

Can you elaborate on your comment "need to download 32 bit as that is the system we are currently on. Later on you have the option to then choose 64 bit." please?

TM

He Means Get The 32-bit download tool, but download the 64-bit Windows 10
