Downloading Java

I've tried downloading Java for my laptop with Windows 10, but the download window does not pop up. I've tried every method that they suggested in the troubleshooting section on their website. I was able to download it in the past. I'd removed the old version that I've had in case it was outdated.

Hi,

The application you are downloading can be downloaded in two different ways, browser-based or from the Control Panel. Browsers and Control Panel have their own Java. Browsers can hugely affect how you download files because they have settings that protect you from unwanted downloads. At this point, we'd like to ask the following to assist you better:

  • Which method are you using to update Java, using a browser or directly through the Control Panel?
  • If you are using a browser to download it, which browser are you using?

Additionally, you can try to check the Downloads folder in the File Explorer. All downloads are stored there by default.

We'll keep an eye out for your response.

I've tried going through both the panel and the browser.

There was no Java download in the folder either.

I prefer Chrome, but the site, Pogo, doesn't allow access through it anymore or through Edge, so I am using Internet Explorer.

Thank you for the information. Java uses plug-ins to work. However, Microsoft Edge does not support plug-ins. At this point, we highly recommend getting in touch with the software developer to have a better view of their support in terms of browser usage.

Let's start troubleshooting the Internet Explorer by using the steps below to clear the history, reset, and clear the cache and cookies of the browser:

  1. Open Internet Explorer, then click the cog wheel icon in the upper-right corner of the browser and click Internet Options.
  2. In the General tab, click the Delete button under the Browser history and click Delete on the prompt that will appear.
  3. Click the Advanced tab and select Reset.
  4. Click OK when a prompt appears.
  5. Click Apply and OK after.

After that, go back to the Internet Options and select the Privacy tab. Toggle off the Turn on Pop-up Blocker to enable pop-ups to appear. Try downloading again.

Inform us if there were any significant changes.

Hello,

We need to do further investigation on your concern so that we can identify the cause of the issue:

  • Have you recently made any changes/updates prior to this issue?
  • Have you tried downloading a different software to check if it is the same?
  • Have you tried a different browser like Firefox to download the said software to check if it is the same?

We will wait for your update.

Regards.

The answer to the first two questions is "no".

The site that I need java for is Pogo. They informed me that Chrome and Firefox weren't compatible with the games/chatrooms and they recommended using the latest Internet Explorer.

You can try the solution by Don Varnau. He says that the problem is coming from the Java website. Worth the shot: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie11-windows_7/cant-download-java-in-windows7ie11-32-bit-or-64/b0ed81f6-2939-4af6-b122-cc774ceef73f
