Can't login Local Account after installed Windows 10 April 2018 Updated

Hi,

Could you have me with this problem?

I have set up 2 account in my laptop. One is a Local Account and One is 365 Office Account. Before updating Windows, I have 3 sign in options in Login Screen: My Local Account, my 365 Office Account and Other User.

But after I installed Windows 10 April 2018 Updated, I can't find my Local account in Login Screen anymore. It only have 2 sign in options: my 365 Office Account and Other User. I have checked User Account in Control Panel and still see my Local Account there.

Please let me know if you need more information or a screenshot.

Thanks.

Hi Hoa. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

It sounds like the Account became corrupted and was not able to be returned, except for fortunately its files remain in Explorer under the old User name.

Type netplwiz in Start Search, right click to Run as Administrator. Is the Account in the list? If not click the Add button, then choose at the bottom to Sign in without a MS Account to set up the account as an Admin account, save and restart PC.

Sign into the new account, locate the missing accounts files in C:\Users and copy them over, set the account up.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

This seems to be an issue with the update, not an account corruption. I noticed this behavior on most updated computers, all having Azure AD accounts. The local accounts are gone at log in, but they still show up in the "other accounts" settings.
