Apple Quicktime

I am running Windows 10 Home version 1703 OS Build 15063.540 64-bit. I have the Britannica encyclopaedia installed.

Certain features require Quicktime; although I had no problems installing the programme, it refuses to run. Have you encountered this problem? Is there an alternate programme? Thank you for your help.

Hi Robert,

It's possible that the version of your Quicktime is not compatible with the version of your Windows 10. We suggest downloading a fresh copy of the installer of Quicktime and see if it helps. If you are looking for alternatives for Quicktime, we suggest that you use Windows Store and look for applications that has the same function. It is also highly suggested to download the application that has the highest rating and reviews.

Looking forward to your response.

QuickTime is no longer supported by Apple because of open security vulnerabilities. You might want to consider upgrading to a new release that no longer needs QuickTime.

Apple has discontinued QuickTime as a stand-alone product. Now it's part of iTunes. It's good to be Apple, right?

If you search on the web you'll likely find an older version of QuickTime but it won't be supported on Windows 10. That means it may work fine or may not, and if it doesn't then don't expect much sympathy from Apple.

Hello BulldogXX

Thank you for your input. Not to worry, Apple has always thought of themselves as the planetary

monarch of information technology and we as lowly serfs. Encarta being discontinued I have

Britannica installed and this thing requires QuickTime for certain features. Do you know of an

alternate compatible programme? THanks for your help.

All the best.

Digital Encyclopedias such as Britannica and Encarta are pretty much out of vogue. I use to be a huge fan and purchased each release up to 2007 I believe. Guess what happened, the Internet and Wikipedia. Even Bill Gates admitted that the Internet won out on that one and it was an inevitable direction. The days of downloading GBs of content to your hard disk or reading from a slow DVD, it just didn't make sense anymore.

There is so much rich dynamic content now on the web or even Britannica's own website. My sibling had Encarta 98 on their computer for years, but it was so outdated.

Thank you Andre. It all has to do with nostalgia you know. I got my first home pc in 1995, I selected a DAN (now defunct) Ultimate with a 1 GB hard drive. I was with DHL at the time; our systems mgr and friend took a look at my choice and said 'Bob you must be off your trolley; you will never, ever need that amount of space!' So yes, Windows 95, Mail, Encarta, Plus, After Dark ;-)   Compuserve (I still have their T-shirts) Nostalgia, I tell you.

All the best,

Robert

QuickTime 7 runs perfectly well on Windows 10 . . .

Lots of applications like QuarkXpress require QuickTIme to be running in the background

Click HERE to download QuickTime 7.7.9 from the Apple Website, that is the version I run and have no problems running it on Windows 10

I had After Dark too with the flying toasters. Really does bring back memories.

Well, you could go with Daves option or if its just for nostalgia purposes, I would preferably set it up in a virtual machine, just for safety purposes. Check out the following article for details.
