Apple Mobile Device Support won't install.

After the 12.2.2 iTunes update, my phone was no longer recognized when connected. I discovered that the Apple mobile device support component wasn't installing, and, as a result, the apple mobile device usb driver is no longer being loaded when the phone is connected to the computer. In running the compatiblity checker, I received the message that AppleMobileDeviceSupport6464.msi is an incompatible program for Windows 10. I talked with Apple support at length, and they are saying it is a Windows issue. Is anyone aware of any solutions or planned fixes to this by Microsoft?

Hi Dave,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. I will be glad to assist you.

As, I understand AppleMobileDeviceSupport6464.msi is an incompatible program for Windows 10.

All You can do is you need to try in compatibility mode and check or need to check with Apple for compatibility.

Follow these steps to install the device drivers in compatibility mode.

  1. Download the latest display adaptor driver from the manufacturer’s website.

  2. Right-click on the setup file and click on "Properties".
  3. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode” and select previous Operating System from the drop down.
  4. Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

Hope this helps.

For further assistance, you can post your query in Microsoft Community.

Thank you.

The compatibility mode will not work for this program. When you check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode”, no previous operating systems are listed to choose in the drop down box. Apple support had already had me attempt this with both this specific program and iTunes, and it does not address the issue. Again, Apple support is saying this is a Windows 10 issue, and is indicating they can provide no assistance.

I ended up just going back to Windows 8.1 and re-installed iTunes. Apple mobile device support installed, and everything works as it should. There is obviously an issue between Windows 10 and the Apple mobile device support program.

Dear Rakesh,

Please see below results of your suggestion. Any other ideas, it's clearly a Windows 10 issue. Any suggestions on where we can go to get a resolution?

Thanks
