Will there be a Windows 10 Subscription in the future?

I know the upgrade itself from W7 or W8 is "free", however there is some information on the web stating that Windows 10 may have a yearly subscription or a payment in the future, similar to the Office 365 subscription. Is this true?

Furthermore the wording on the Windows 10 website's small-print is very carefully constructed, for example "Once you upgrade, you have Windows 10 for free on that device." however this does not clear up whether there will be any payment(s) in the future.

My question therefore is if Windows 10 will be free for life or is just free to upgrade initially?

No its not a subscription:

Wow, thats cool, but does that mean, I will have to pay for Windows 10 after the first year?

No. Its a promotion to get as many users to upgrade their existing Windows 7 PCs and Windows 8.1 devices to Windows 10. As Microsoft Program Manager for Windows Terry Myerson described it:

This is more than a one-time upgrade: once a Windows device is upgraded to Windows 10, we will continue to keep it current for the supported lifetime of the device at no additional charge.
