Windows 10 product key

Hi,

I purchased a Surface Pro 7 the other day and now Windows is asking for a product key. I wasn't given a product key. I called Microsoft and they can't help me. This is where they left me: https://imgur.com/a/okxhiD3.

Can someone link me to a key generator, or let me know where I can access a product key free? This is f*cked.

Thanks.

You won't get instant answers here from other users (this is a user forum) you need to be patient.

Try using the command wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey press return. I suspect it might return the same response though.

If it does you need to contact Microsoft Support, via a local number.

A key generator is perfectly legal if it's a legitimate copy. Windows wants me to purchase a key from the Microsoft Store, but I'm not buying it a second time. Pirate Bay has nothing.

Just noticed you did use the full command, so a call to support is the way to go.

You need to try again, they are the only ones that can help when you get the response to the commands you have used.

You could try slmgr /dlv but again I suspect it will error.

Where did you buy the Surface, you could try the Surface forum but you may get a similar response. If it is a recent purchase what about a Reset, Settings > Update and security > Recovery.

Thanks again for the reply. I purchased the Surface Pro 7 from a retail store. Microsoft said those commands access the BIOS, so a reset won't do anything. This is why I need a key generator.

You cannot use a key generator to get a key that is illegal.

The reason I suggested a reset is because the commands are not running correctly, if they were they would give the correct response.

You can also try system files scans, but first what is your version and build of Windows 10. Type winver in Search and select the top result. Post back the version and build in full.

System files scans

Method 1:

Run DISM tool and check the issue. Please follow these steps:

a. Press Windows + X keys and click command prompt (admin). Or PowerShell (Admin).

b. Type the following command in command prompt and press Enter.

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

after the scan is complete type the following and press Enter

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

then use method 2.

Method 2:

System file checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Run system file checker (SFC) and see if it helps. Please follow these steps:

a. Press Windows + X keys and click command prompt (admin). Or PowerShell (Admin).

b. Type the following command in command prompt and press Enter.

sfc /scannow

After completing the scans restart using Start > Power > Restart.
