Ransomware destroyed computer

My computer was infected with ransomware.   I rebooted  the computer and it now appears that the entire drive and OS are inaccessible.   I have another copy of Windows and tried booting with the Windows 10 USB, and it cannot repair or recover the instance I had on the disk.   I think my only option is to format the disk and reinstall an OS.   I recently upgrade the infect computer to Win10 Pro.

Is there are way to get the Win10 Pro key that I recently purchased?

thank you

Hi jp1jp2jp3

Yes, honestly, after a Ransomware attack, the best option is always a clean install of Windows 10

Once you install Windows 10, if you have any difficulty activating Windows 10 Pro, you should contact Microsoft Support and ask them to help you re-activate your Windows 10 Pro, they can see into your account and the Windows Pro upgrade and can help you with that . .

Hi jp1,
I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 2-Year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

With Windows 10 you get a digital license where your activation information is stored on MS servers. As soon as you do a clean install, Windows would automatically activate when it connects to the Internet, for the first time-provided you install the same version as was installed before. If you are asked for a key, skip it.

High chances that it might install Windows 10 Home if it came preinstalled. If so, you would have to configure the ISO file:
