What is the history of the licence on this computer. Has it always been Windows 10 or was it part of the free upgrade from Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10.

How did you get the licence key did you buy it retail as a sealed product.

Is it the licence for Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro.

When you clean install or reset Windows 10 on the same hardware a licence key is not normally required as the device is registered on Microsoft activation servers and activation is automatic once connected to the internet.

Please open PowerShell (Admin) and enter slmgr /dlv press return and post a screenshot of the result.

It was from upgrade to upgrade.

I believe it was pro, but no certain

No, didn't asked, for any activation key. I just: reset this pc > removing everything > install windows from local drive

When I saw the Activation status was: Windows is not activated. I tried to change the product key for the one I was using before formatting, but

didn't worked

Ok, that's strange. there is no product key showing by using the command

And that was the first thing I tried to do with the key I have

EDIT: I found other way to discover the product key on this site: https://www.howtogeek.com/. Even with this key it continues with the same error

If you installed Windows 10 Pro on a system that had Windows Home, then it wouldn't work. If this is the case, to correct the error, first install Windows 10 Home and then upgrade using Windows Store to Windows Pro.

Did you change your hardware before reinstalling Windows?

Try using the command prompt to activate your Windows, follow the steps below:

1. Open the Start Menu and search for Command Prompt. (Run as administrator)

2. Enter the following command:

slmgr /ipk “Windows Key”

slmgr /ato

Note: In the command replace the “Windows Key” with your own license key.

3. Restart and check if the issue persists.

I will be here to help you find a solution to your problem, have a great day!
