Windows search box

You can see in the screenshot above of my Windows 10 search box a search tool called "Quick searches" with four choices.

I don't know how or why this appeared one day in my search box.  I don't want it or need it, but can't remove it.  I've tried everything I can think of.

Has anyone experienced the same thing, know what caused it, and how to remove it?

There is one thing you can do.  Right click the taskbar, click on Search, click on Hidden.

Then to search either click on the windows icon or hit the windows key and type your search.

Hi ThoHed
Greetings! I am Vijay, an Independent Advisor. Try resetting it

1. Reinstall Start Menu
Windows Key+X > Click Powershell (Admin) > Copy the below and paste into Powershell > Enter > Reboot your computer

Get-AppXPackage -Name Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

2. Reregister Cortana
Windows Key+X > Click Powershell (Admin) > Copy the below and paste into Powershell > Enter > Reboot your computer

Get-AppXPackage -Name Microsoft.Windows.Cortana | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

3. I would recommend that you restore from a system restore point to a point when things were working fine

Thanks for the reply, but I don't want to remove the search button from the taskbar.

I want to remove the extraneous stuff from the search box.

Thanks for the reply, but your procedure is way too complicated for me.

There must be a simpler way.  If not, I will just live with the problem.
