I've have had the same problem with Cortana Search, but I found this slice of gold at:

http://www.tenforums.com/general-discussion/9263-were-getting-search-ready-error-windows-cortana-search-3.html

An excerpt is below from "pakjebakmeel ":

I reinstalled [Cortana] using the following procedure:

1. Open and elevated CMD window (rightclick --> run as admin)
2. Start powershell (type 'powershell' without quotes and press enter)
3. Run the command:

Get-AppXPackage -Name Microsoft.Windows.Cortana | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Within 10 seconds my search was back to normal and I could finally put this problem to rest.

-- Edit --

This only "repaired" one login, but some results still do not show. The same procedure still leaves search non-available to other logins. Also, now I get "We're getting search ready..." as a permanent "feature" to my search results.

I guess we have to sit back and relax for an official fix to be released.
