Windows Update Advanced Options Question

I am running Win 10 Version 1803 and I have a simple question that I cannot find an answer for. In Windows Update under the Advanced Options Section should I keep the option Give me updates for other Microsoft Products when I update Windows unchecked or should I check it. I cannot remember if it was checked or not before I installed Version 1803 a few days ago. I would also like to know the advantages of either checking or keeping it unchecked. I do not want to miss any updates but then again I do not want updates that could cause my system not to work properly.

Thank you

Hi Don, that means other stand-alone Microsoft-branded products installed on the computer, like Office . . .etc.

Hi DonT5,

The updates for other Microsoft Products are related to other programs like Office. In this case is better to keep that option on for better compatibility between the Microsoft products installed and the Operating system.

I hope this answer has more clarification on your question

regards,

Angel.

Hi DonT5, you should check that option if you have Office loaded on your system, in order to keep everything up to date . . .

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer. I use Office 360 and the only stand alone Office I have installed is the Microsoft Picture Manager I selectively installed from my Office 2007 Install disk since Office 360 does not have that anymore and the other picture apps do not work like the old Office Picture Manager. It works great by the way. I will turn on the option as suggested.

Thank you very much,

Don
