Windows Not Genuine after downgrading from Windows 10

Original title: Windows 10 messed my computer very badly.

Sooo I went from a real copy of Windows 7 to Windows 10. I decided I didn't like it and went to back because i couldnt get over half my programs to work for it so I went back to Windows 7 and now its saying I have copy that's not genuine. I cant redownload Windows 10 again since its "Not a Genuine Copy". Im now  just sitting here with that not being able to do anything. Im not sure if this is a common problem or not seeing as I couldn't really find anything about it.

Hi,

I can imagine the inconvenience you are experiencing. I will certainly help you with this issue.

However, I would like to know;

  1. What is the make and model of your computer?
  2. Have you checked the date and time of your computer?
  3. Do you have the product key?

If you get notifications that the copy of installed Windows in not genuine, or that you might be a victim of counterfeit software, it's likely that your copy of Windows was not properly activated or is otherwise not genuine. You receive periodic reminders about Windows not genuine or your desktop might turn black after every 60 minutes until the issue is resolved.

You can't install Windows on more computers than the Microsoft Software License Terms allow. Only one copy of Windows can be installed on one PC. Make sure that only one computer is activated with this product key at a

time.

Windows can show as “Non-Genuine” error message for several reasons, such as incorrect Date and Time or an incorrect Product Key. Before trying any troubleshooting steps let’s check Windows date and time, and to activate Windows again by changing product key and trying phone activation.

To verify Date and Time are correct:

  1. Click the Start Button on the Desktop.
  2. In the Search field type Date and Time and press enter.
  3. Verify the date and time is set correctly

Retype the Product Key:

  1. Click the Start Button on the Desktop.
  2. Select Computer.
  3. Select System Properties on the Taskbar.
  4. At the bottom click Change product key and retype your Product Key.

Phone Activation:

  1. Click the Start Button on the Desktop.
  2. In the Search field type SLUI 4.exe and press enter (Note, there is a space between “I” and “4”)
  3. Select your country.
  4. Call the phone number listed and follow the automated prompts to activate Windows.

If the issue persists, please follow the suggestions in the Microsoft article below and check if that helps.

You receive an error code and the copy of Microsoft Windows is not validated when you try to use Windows Genuine Advantage to validate your copy of Windows

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to help you further.

Hi,

You do not need a product key to be entered while upgrading to Windows 10. It should automatically activate itself after few days.

Have you tried all of the suggestions above?

For reference: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/where-find-windows-product-key#where-find-windows-product-key=windows-7

Hope this helps. Get back to us with the results. We are happy to help!
