Windows 10 USB Blue Screen

So I have the same Blue Screen Problem when I plug in a USB or move my USB mouse form one port to another.

I tried a fix I found where it said to edit one reg key and remove all usb drivers.

In the process of removal, one driver in particular shuts the machine down.

And then I get no signal to the monitor, on boot up.

I left it off during work today came home and it powered back on with just the Keyboard (particularly just as the KB was plugged in) and a different mouse.

Everything seemed to work as it did before....but with the usb problem as I plugged in a 3rd device and it BSOD'd

Then I tried the remove driver method again (I know I know)  and sure enough that was the only predictable thing where it powered off on what I am guessing is the same driver.

I have a Asus Rampage IV Black Edition, I am guessing one of the USB devices controls something on the Mobo?

So currently I can power on....but see nothing on the screen, with just keyboard and mouse in the specific ports they were in before.

Any ideas what I can do form here?

Hello,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community.

As per the description, I understand that you’re facing issues with your PC running Windows 10 as it goes to Blue screen the moment you plug in a 3rd device. I will certainly help you with the issue.

I would suggest you to refer to the suggestion by Babu V replied on September 4, 2015 from the link mentioned below and check if that helps:

Also, it may help to look at the minidump files from the blue screen crashes.

Can you zip up the minidump files in the C:\Windows\Minidump folder and make available (provide link) via a public folder on OneDrive or similar site?

Here's a couple of links on using OneDrive (SkyDrive):

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/onedrive/share-file-folder

If you have problems zipping the minidump files copy the minidump files to another location such as a folder on the Desktop

Also, you do not necessarily have to zip up the minidump files, you can upload them one at a time

So I was able to get my visual back by unplugging the second video out, the DVI out to my projector.  I am assuming the uninstalling of USB devices impacted something on my motherboard.  And that makes sense as many things on it are USB controlled.

Then once I was able to get back on , I Flashed my BIOS and upgraded my Chipset with the latest from Asus for WIN 10 64.  Then I reinstalled all the other drivers from ASUS for win10 64.  Then when I plugged in my mouse and KB I did see the BSOD and it went through it's process, but after reboot I was able to use the devices.  I plugged in the external drives...and again BSOD, but after reboot they were recognized.

Before it would BSOD and then after reboot it would go back to that....so essentially I have seen it 2 more times, but hope not to going forward.  I have rebooted the machine at least 7 times since all devices are recognized now.

So if the short of it is I will see one BSOD for each new device I can live with it...I will know for sure when I plug in my new Space Pilto Pro tonight.

If there is a deeper problem here please let me know, but I am hoping it is ignorable from here on out.

regarding the minidump....what kind of info is stored on that?

See the section "Small memory dump files" in the following article for info that is stored in a minidump:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/315263

There should be no personal information in the minidump files except there may be pathways included in the minidump files which may reveal a user name.
