Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Let's try the following steps and check.

Step 1: Run Windows updates troubleshooter

Type troubleshooting in search bar and click it

Click Fix problems with Windows updates under System and Security and follow the instructions

Step 2: Place the computer in clean boot state

To help troubleshoot error messages and other issues, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This kind of startup is known as a "clean boot." A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Placing your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Note: Refer "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start as normal after troubleshooting.

Step 3: Disable proxy connection if you are using

Press Windows key + R, type inetcpl.cpl and click OK

Click Connections tab and then click LAN Settings

Click to uncheck the option Use a proxy server for your LAN

Click OK and then try installing the update

Hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reply in case you face any other issues with Windows in future.

Tried all the steps. did not work.

why don't you guys just give a manual download link for all the updates or maybe a combined one for months like Nov 2015 update which can be manually downloaded from Microsoft site?

If your Windows 10 version is activated, you could do clean install. Use Media tool at Microsoft's Download site and download ISO file to your pc. Load ISO file on USB flash drive with Rufus free tool.

The W10 at download site is Nov. updated version.

Manual Download:

Do I download the October and November 2015 Security Release ISO Image and install it so that I will get all the updates released till now? If yes, should I keep searching  for such security image release at the end of every month and install it manually?

Clean Install:

Windows 10 was activated properly on 1st Aug 2015. I thought of having a dual boot and doing a clean install on another drive. When I try to use the media creation tool to download the ISO the following error message is displayed

---------------------------
There was a problem running this tool

We’re not sure what happened, but we’re unable to run this tool on your PC. If you continue experiencing problems, reference the error code when contacting customer support. Error code: 0x80072EFD - 0x20000

Error code: 0x80072EFD - 0x20000 is related to lack of free space to download to.

What is free space left on local drive or USB device if used ?

How many times did you try to download media tool?

Maybe you can use Windows explorer - properties-general-compress this drive to save space.

I tried downloading twice once in November, once on 13th Dec.

Is 36 GB not sufficient space? I can free up to 150 GB on that drive if needed.

36 GB is suppose  to be sufficient.

Were you able to download media tool to your pc?

Have you got 3rd party antivirus software enabled? If so, see if Windows Firewall is turned off (should be on).

If you have good internet speed and have disconnected any external devices-printers, usb, card reader SD, you might try starting Windows 10 from website. It will ask if you wish to keep personal files. This method is another version of Clean install. Be sure to have backed up personal files before starting.
