Windows 10 Apps are not displaying and working. After November Update.

After update the Windows 10 November Update. My Windows App display a weird name and also not working, including the Store, Calculator, etc.

The name looks like @{Microsoft...} -- i also have tried to Reinstall all app via Powershell Script, but still not working. Any suggestion ?

I understand the inconvenience you are facing currently. Let me help you in resolving the issue.

I suggest you to run System File Checker scan and check if there are any system files missing or got corrupted.

Summary: System file check is a utility built into the Operating System that will check for system file corruption the sfc /scannow command (System File Check) scans the integrity of all protected operating system files and replaces incorrect, corrupted, changed, or damaged versions with the correct versions where possible.

I suggest you to try the steps provided, in the link below in order to run SFC scan on your computer.

If the issue persist, I suggest you to create a new user account and check if it fixes the issue. Refer to the steps below to create a new User Account:

  1. Go to Start menu and then click on Settings.

  2. Choose Accounts and then select Other User Accounts towards the left.

  3. Select Add an Account.

  4. Enter a user name and press Next.

  5. Click on Finish.

  6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

  7. Check if issue persists.

I have tried all above and the issue comes out like this image when i create new account.

Windows Store, Windows Calculator, all gone.

If the issue still persists, I suggest you to run the DISM commands and check the issue.

1) Open an evelavted Command prompt.

2) In the elevated command prompt, copy and paste the command below, press Enter and next restart the computer.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

3) In the elevated command prompt, copy and paste the command below, press Enter and next restart the computer.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

4) In the elevated command prompt, copy and paste the command below, press Enter and next restart the computer.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

I also did the above and have done it twice, the issue still persist.

Windows Store, and other Windows 10 app is gone.

Thank you for responding.

I suggest you to deploy PowerShell command and check if it helps:

  1. Open the Task manager.  Here’s a tip:  Press CTRL+Shift+ESC.

  2. Click File > Run New Task.

  3. Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”.

  4. Type CMD.

  5. Type the following commands at the CMD prompt:

  • powershell

  • Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

    6. Close the CMD window.

Are you using latest windows 10 build?

If not, I suggest you to upgrade your system to the latest Windows 10 build which includes additional features improvements and check if it helps in resolving the issue.

  • In search type Check for updates and hit enter.

  • Click on Check for updates.

My Windows build is Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3124200).

Is there new update ?

I understand your concern regarding the issue that you are facing.

 

I would suggest you to perform a system restore.

System restore will take your computer to pervious state when it was not facing such problem, this can be done by selecting the proper restore point.   

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

  1. Press Windows key + R.
  2. Type rstrui.exe and click OK.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the System restore process.

Disclaimer: When you use System Restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you installed after that date are removed.
