software exception 0xc06d007e

Recently purchased a Dell inspiron 15 (5000 series).  On initial setup, we were prompted to upgrade to the latest version of Windows 10 X86 64 home edition (1709 16299.125).  Upon completion of the update and initial log in, I received the error message   

The exception shown unknown software exception 0xc06d007e occurred in the application at location 0x00000000769608B2.

Corrupted Windows Update components can be one of the reasons why you're getting this error code 0xc06d007e. Since you've mentioned that the error appears during the completion of the update, it seems the update is not yet done. In this case, we suggest running the Windows Update Troubleshooter first. Click this link and choose Download troubleshooter for Windows 10 to begin running the troubleshooter.
