Security Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3087040) - Error 0x80004005

Welp, another 'typical' error 0x80004005 error whatever that is, for trying to update automatically whatever KB3087040 is.

There appears to be many of these error codes but for various reasons.  This update was in a bundle with an update for Windows Defender, that downloaded and installed OK but this one for Flash Player keeps failing.

help?

EDIT:

I have searched, poked looked around and determined that something is broken at the Update Centre;

  1. when I searched for Support I get this on the page which points to KB308740 for NOT Windows 10:

Resolution

The following files are available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:

Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 8.1 x64-based systems (KB3087040) Download the Windows8.1-KB3087040-x64.msu package now. Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 8 x64-based systems (KB3087040) Download the Windows8-RT-KB3087040-x64.msu package now. Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows Server 2012 (KB3087040) Download the Windows8-RT-KB3087040-x64.msu package now. Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows Server 2012 R2 (KB3087040) Download the Windows8.1-KB3087040-x64

2. When I did a search for KB3087040 I found 5 strange results which will not paste properly but they are in non-English.

3. The update WORKS for my other computer which was updated from 8.1 to 10 but does NOT work for the Win 10 Clean Install (new SSD etc)

I believe the update is broken because it is looking for Windows 8, 8.1 or any remnant thereof (such as the freebie upgrade to 10)

Regards,
