Quickbooks will not open after Win 10 update

Quickbooks 2014 would not open one morning. After a call to Intuit, I upgraded to 2018 for max compatability. It didn't work. The program will open, but it closes as it's opening a company. Not a problem with company files, they work on two other machines. After days of phone and chat with Intuit and Mircosoft, I was told the problem was a Windows Update and Microsoft is aware of the problem.

I tried uninstalling updates, uninstalling and reinstalling QBs. Doing that got Maillwasher Pro working again, but not Quickbooks.

Will this ever be fixed? Can I fix it? Do I dare try to repair Windows 10? Do I go back to Win 7?

I've tried that. Tried again.

Version 1803 Build 17134.228

I could restore an older backup, or reinstall/repair Windows, but will it be worth the effort?

PS, I repaired .netframework. I had a MS tech on chat remote in. He's the one that told me MS is aware of the issue.

I also had a problem with Mailwaser Pro not opening. I found and removed all the Windows updates I could (2) then removed and reinstalled Mailwasher. It worked. I tried the same with QBs, No luck.

The issue with QuickBooks that Microsoft is aware of is way back May 23, 2018—KB4100403 (OS Build 17134.81), and this might be the information the Microsoft agent wants to tell you. However, a fix was released on June 12, 2018—KB4284835 (OS Build 17134.112) a couple of updates after.

For now, it'll be best to install the latest Windows update on your device which was released last August 30, 2018—KB4346783 (OS Build 17134.254).

If the issue persist after installing the latest build. we would like to know if your computer connected to a network domain? If so, it could be that there might be permissions that needs correction, or that needs amendment to be able for you to use the full functionality of your QuickBooks. If you're one of the administrators managing your company's domain, I highly recommend that you post this query to the Windows Technet forums - IT Pro for Windows 10. This is so other IT Professionals and Specialists would be able to provide you their suggestions and opinions on addressing your concern with getting the right permisions or settings that you'll be needing to amend.

Best regards.

Installed KB4346783, uninstalled and reinstalled QBs. QBs still won't open.

Ran Compatability Trouble Shooting, applied recommendations. No luck.

Is it possible to repair Windows without reinstalling all of my software?

This problem started a few weeks ago. I tried to open Quickbooks one morning and it wouldn't. It worked fine the day before.

You can repair Windows without reinstalling it by performing an in-place upgrade. In-place upgrade is a procedure where it replaces all your system files without affecting your personal files and programs. The link below contains the step-by-step guide on how to perform an in place upgrade:
