There are reports of the patch saying its failed, but its actually installed.

Press Windows key + R
Type: appwiz.cpl
Hit Enter
Click View installed updates

See if KB4056892 is installed or not.

You can try installing it manually if its not installed.

If you still experience problems installing it.

I recommend you block it until the next cumulative update is released. Many are reporting the same problem too and it looks like this update is buggy.

Is there an option or work around to block updates or hardware drivers that might cause problems?
Yes, Microsoft has released a KB update (KB3073930) that will let users block or hide Windows or driver updates.

You can download it at the following link:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930

or

http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f2...

After downloading, launch it, click Next, wait while it detects pending Windows Updates.

Click the Hide Updates menu.

Scroll through the list then select then select the update. Check the box next to the update then click Next to confirm changes.

unfortunately problem is not fixed. I tried all described activities but nothing moved in solving of the update, constant asking for restart :( I checked the mentioned file on the catalogue, tried the other way around and got message that this is already installed on my system. Strange! There is nothing else to do but waiting for new bug clean/free update...

Unfortunately I have not solved the problem, partially I have removed this particular file from installing/asking to restart again and again and waiting for official Microsoft fix/update eventually.

Please let me know if you find answers. I have version 1709 installed too but Windows Update thinks its not for whatever reason. Oh, and I had to install the update manually...I think. All I knowis this build 1709 is installed, but Windows Update thinks its not and asking to reboot or check and download the same update over and over. I'm stuck in a loop. The part that worried me is that if Windows Update is failing, how can this ever be fixed? By the way, my machine is an Intel one, not AMD.

I am totally disappointed by this MS ineffectiveness not fixing the well noted problem; My situation is even worse, one of my USB ports is signaling error 43 and stopped working, again something related to some drivers or general update mentioned. All this happened when this particular update appeared and it takes so much time for MS to fix it.....Btw I also have Intel I5 7th generation processor installed on Dell Inspiron laptop. Where is professionalism and customer service here???

that sounds more likely you have outdated drivers, try use Snappy Driver Installer to update your drivers: https://sdi-tool.org/

I have spent 4 hours with Dell customer service trying to resolve this problem.  They tried remote-installing manually and used all remote diagnostic and trouble shooting techniques, including a Dell/Microsoft tool and they were unable to fix this issue.  I queried "About your PC" and the correct build is NOT installed.  Ultimately, Dell said that they were unable fix this issue.  This issue does not appear to be impacting performance; however, I would like to know what MS is doing to fix this issue.
