Lumia 640 Dual Sim does not receive Windows 10 Mobile

Hi all,

does anyone know why the Lumia 640 Dual Sim (unbranded, Germany) does not receive the Windows 10 Mobile Update? I heard from several guys in Germany they do not receive the upgrade.

Lumia 640 LTE receives the update

Lumia 640 XL Dual Sim receives the update

Lumia 640 Dual Sim does not receive the update

Is there a official statement form Microsoft i am not aware of? I only know they told they are not planning a second wave, so the 640 Dual Sim will not receive the update like the *20 devices?

Hope someone can help

Kind regards

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern and will assist you to resolve this issue.

I suggest you to perform the soft reset by having your phone turned on. Then press and hold the volume down + power buttons until your phone vibrates and restarts. Note that you should not touch the device screen during the process (not even when the 'slide down to power off' prompt appears) and check if it helps.

And also refer the link below and check if it helps.

Hope this helps. If the issue remains unresolved, please get back to us and we would be happy to help.

Have you run the Upgrade Advisor app for Win10 Mobile? => http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/windows-10-mobile-upgrade-advisor

yes, the upgrade advisor says,

"good news! your device is allowed for the upgrade. We work with your provider and manufactor to deliver the upgrade to your device. When were ready you receive a message." (rough translation from german to english)

See image https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CdxKEmDXEAA1QNo.jpg

The device is unbranded and like i said, Microsoft stated there is no second wave. Anyway, what i read in german boards this happens to any german unbranded Lumia 640 Dual SIM...french 640 dual sim (non lte) devices receive the update (for example, see german board http://www.hardwareluxx.de/community/f317/windows-phone-stammtisch-959083-212.html#post24425907 ).

So there are 2 options in my opinion

-  Microsoft forgot to enable the update for the german 640 dual sims...cause there is no other manufactor or provider involved.

- The german 640 dual sim (non lte) is out of luck

yes, the upgrade advisor says,

"good news! your device is allowed for the upgrade. We work with your provider and [manufacturer] to deliver the upgrade to your device. When [Microsoft, your provider & device manufacturer are in accord,] you [will] receive a message [stating that your upgrade is available]."

My translation above. I'd say you just need to wait for the upgrade to become available/be offered to your device. Good luck!

so there is a "second wave"? I am willing to believe anything Microsoft will cut down regional Lumia 640s aswell as the 20 devices

If the Upgrade Advisor app says we will notify you when your upgrade is ready, then that is the answer folks. No need to try and interpret. The upgrade, in your case, will become available if you see that message. In other words, don't get too caught up in this "wave" discussion. Instead, use the Upgrade Advisor app to ascertain your device's eligibility and pending upgrade availability (if any).

so there is a "second wave"?

Apparently not.

"...Microsoft says the Lumia Icon might still get upgraded, but that there's no second wave of Windows 10 Mobile upgrades for other devices."

i am not realy trustfull in any complaints from Microsoft officials....

but anyway there is no other options than wait if you (MS) send me a good or bad gift...at what time you ever will do it.

So i think this is answered in the most Microsoft way as there is no clear answer -> so far the official answer for me "aparantly, there is no second wave, except for you...you will receive the update at whatever time we think we will push it, maybe a Christmas gift for 2016."

FWIW "second wave" would refer to Win10 Mobile being released to devices OTHER THAN Lumia 1520 [but not 1020], 930 [but not 920], 830, 735, 730, 640XL, 640, 638 1GB, 636 1GB, 635 1GB, 540, 535, 532, 435 & 430; BLU Win HD w510u, BLU Win HD LTE x150q, and MCJ Madosma Q501.

Mike is telling you to just wait for the Win10 Mobile upgrade to be offered.

Tip: The upgrade will not be offered without your (service) provider's consent/approval. If you want to complain, complain to your provider (e.g., T-Mobil; O2; E-Plus).
