KB4074588 keep failing to install

Can't get this issue fixed.  0x80070bc2 error.

2018-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4074588)

It keeps failing, always asking to restart and installing again and again.

Tried this, but no success.

  • Right-click on Windows key and select Command Prompt (Admin).
  • Type the following commands in Command Prompt window. To execute them, press Enter after each one. 
    SC config wuauserv start= auto
    SC config bits start= auto
    SC config cryptsvc start= auto
    SC config trustedinstaller start= auto
  • Finally, restart your PC and try to install the update that was previously returning the 0x80070bc2 error.

Broken Windows Update components can be one of the factors why this issue occurs. As an initial troubleshooting step, we'd recommend running the Windows Update Troubleshooter to diagnose and repair any broken components that's causing this issue. To do this, download this troubleshooter on this link, locate the file in the download folder, right-click on it and select Run as administrator. Then, follow the on-screen prompts.

Note: After running the troubleshooter, try installing the said Windows Update again and check if the issue persists.

In the event that the above steps doesn't suffice, we'd recommend resetting Windows Update components to eradicate any remnants of the updates that's cause this issue. To be guided on this, click on this link.

Tried both, but did not work out.
In the end, I set up reinstalled windows.

OK so I did all of these SC configs and it installed but now it takes for ever for windows to start up. Is there a way to put these back to default now that its upgraded?

Hi,

We are glad to know that you have successfully installed the latest updates. To address your query, these Service Configurations are set to Automatic by default and you no longer need to reconfigure it.

Also, we would like to verify, has computer booted up since your last post?
