2018-06 Cumulative Update does not install. Error code: 0x800f0900

Hello. I tried updating to the June update for the 1803 build, but I keep getting this error message:

"There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help:

2018-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4284835) - Error 0x800f0900"

I tried the troubleshooter found in the setting menu, it did not work.  I tried running command-line commands under admin, posted on this forum and other helpful sites, they did not work.

I then tried the troubleshooting guide linked here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10164/fix-windows-update-errors. The DISM failed at 85.9%, citing the error: 0x800f0900. Windows Resource Protection then found corrupt files but was unable to fix them.

The last solution given by the guide was to download the MCT and just perform an in-place upgrade. I would have done this, if not for the perpetual inability of downloading the actual MCT from the Microsoft website. I would not like to waste precious bandwidth on something that keeps failing to download.

So, is there any other possible solution that can be performed short of actually using the MCT?

Thanks for any answers.

Hello Dadof 5,

I would like to know of other possible solutions before I resign myself to using the MCT, unless there is really no other option available.

Hello Pedro,

Those are the commands I mentioned in my initial post. They did not work for me sadly.

Hi Fritz. Unfortunately with this particular update there are not any work around. Manual install is the best option

I failed to mention that I also tried manually downloading the update from Windows Catalog, and updating from that. That also did not work.

I guess I will try to go with the MCT route then. I will report back here if that works. Or not.

The first step would be to try resetting Windows updates using an automatic script. See:
http://www.yourwindowsguide.com/2015/12/windows...
Make sure you run the script as an administrator.

Hi. So I just tried using the MCT. Since I just wanted to update this PC, I chose that option. Unfortunately this is what it said:

"This tool can't update your PC. The language or edition of the version of Windows currently installed on your PC isn't supported by this tool."

Perhaps the Windows Update Troubleshooter may help?

There is also a Windows Update repair tool that you can try here
