Question

Q: Windows update repeatedly failing. How to proceed?

Hello,

Win10 has been trying to install an update for a few days it seems. I keep getting an error that it could not complete. This occurs after a reboot, and each attempt to install.

This last time it went a bit further along I think, because I no longer have an option to Update in my start menu/power settings. How should I proceed?

KB4034658 indicates you are on version 1607. The latest stable version of W10 is 1703 and the computer might be failing to install it. KB4034658  also has removed update history which had an evidence if the PC was failing to install the feature upgrade aka 1703.

Nevertheless, try updating manually to 1703 and check if it helps:

Use Media creation tool or the upgrade assistant to upgrade your system to the creators update.

Update to Windows 10 creators update manually if you are unable to get it through Windows update

I have run the update manually, and this is what I see. Am I current now?

I do not appear to be current - It keeps offering my updates when I go to restart. I choose to update, and I receive no failed notice, but no new updates get installed as best as I can tell.

Any help appreciated.
