Windows 10 update removed office programs

Good day,

The last regular update Microsoft released removed all of my MS office 365 applications and the money app from my computer. I have been running Windows 10 on this machine since new around August 2016 and never had any problems. I have since reinstalled the applications - however - does anyone have any insight on why this may have happened and if I should be concerned that this will happen again?

Hello,

To isolate the issue about the update removing the installed apps, kindly respond to the following questions:

  1. What version of Office 365 do you use (i.e. Office 365 Home, Office 365 Personal)?
  2. Besides from the last update, have you done any significant changes with your device? If there are, what are they?

We look forward to you response.

Regards.

Good day,

I am using Office 365 home, and haven't had any major updates to my system that I am aware of. It was very odd - I simply performed the latest update within Windows 10 which seemed to go smoothly. The next day when I turned my computer on I noticed all my office applications were gone without my consent.

Hi,

Some apps have to be uninstalled because they could cause problems with the update process. You'll be able to reinstall these apps after the update of Windows 10 is done.

If you have further questions, feel free to ask us about it.

Regards.

Thank you for your response. I am unsure of how many other people have been affected by this issue but I can say from my own personal experience it wasn't too painful. That being said-  previously using windows 7 I never had such a thing happen.

Furthermore, for all of those out there that aren't as technology savvy I feel Microsoft should find another way to update it's operating system without disadvantaging its user base by removing programs without their consent or knowledge. Microsoft is currently undergoing a class action lawsuit brought by business users that were forcibly updated to Windows 10 causing them to lose thousands of dollars in revenue as a result of losing files.

Apparently Microsoft hasn't learned nor cares about the affect of its choices on its end users - but after enough legal action I suspect things will change. It is exactly this kind of behavior that has encouraged me to have "back up" systems including MAC OS for when Microsoft lets me down.

Microsoft's consumers should be able to depend on the company - especially after the billions of dollars we have donated to your "beta testing" and faulty software.
