Windows 10 (KB4041676) - Error 0x80070157 stuck in limbo

Installation error, stuck in limbo, only one system is affected.  After the 100% hardisk activities, and force reboot , now the patch is stuck in a limbo, cant install , it just keep downloading automatically via wucs but failed to installed. Manual download via catalog doesnt install it either. 
Error 0x80070157 is reported.

NO!! the problem is not SOLVED!! i follow the article and it doesn't work, because u release the wrong patch and automatically installed it for me !!!! and it screw up my whole system, i have to do a full system reset! thanks but no thanks!! please check
your patch next time before releasing them to public , stop being so incompetence !

To further assist you with your concern, may we verify if the computer is now working after the reset? Have you also tried uninstalling the update? If not, here is how:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Click Update & Security.
  4. Click Windows Update.
  5. Click Update history.
  6. Select Uninstall updates.
  7. Select the update you want to remove, then select Uninstall.

Same problem.  Your patch is corrupt Microsoft, fix it!

It keep failing over and over through windows update.  I manually downloaded and tried to install it and it hosed up my whole machine to the point that I couldn't even launch anything had to restore a backup image.

No Microsoft, your **** patch is the problem. Got a brand new machine here. The thing just won't update.

Same the same exact problem here. Have tried all of the solutions that is recommended here. Doesn't work and my PC is under 4 month old. It seems the problem is the update KB4041676. This is impossible to install. It reaches 97% and then it fails, no matter if do it in offline safemode, through Windows Update or through manual download in your online catalog.

Please look into the update files and fix the error.

Hi all,

I still have the problem, Finn has given the same info I would have supplied.

I have followed Darian's instructions with both user and administrator login to remove the failed update. Then downloaded the update again. but still cannot get it to install.

I was able to get the update to apply by disabling windows defender and anti virus software temporarily.
