The early November security updates installed without an issue on my Windows 10 Pro 64-bits.
The first Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, version 1511, 10586, however, got stuck at:
"Preparing to install updates 25%"
It ends with:
"There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help:
Retry"
This is what I tried before to install the upgrade:
- Removed SD cards and external hard disks;
- Restored all (privacy) Settings to default.
- Ran the WindowsUpdate Troubleshooter which indicated it fixed something (never seen this do anything before, though).
- Tried WindowsUpdate 8-10 times;
- Used the Media Creation tool to install a fresh update, which got stuck at 40% total installation after 2 hrs, so I had to reboot the machine and abort the update. Restoring the previous Windows version also took forever, so I used an image instead.
All in all, this update story is not pretty.
Is there an issue with this update or is something else going on that I need to fix?
Cheers,
Dave
