OpenGL problem in windows 10

Recently I upgraded to windows 10 from windows 8.1. In windows 8.1 I had installed intel graphics media accelerator because it supports openGL 2.0 but when I upgraded to windows 10 it automatically installed updates for graphics and stopped intel graphics media accelerator. That's why I m not able to play many games like minecraft which asks for openGL 2.0 . So, I would like to ask you to either provide support for openGL 2.0 in windows graphics update or tell method to disable some updates in windows 10.

My specs are :-

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 32-bit (10.0, Build 10240) (10240.th1.150729-1800)

System Manufacturer: HCL Infosystems Limited

BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual  CPU  E2180  @ 2.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz

Card name: Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.0)

Hi,

Welcome to Microsoft Community. Your interest in Windows 10 is much appreciated.

I would suggest you to follow these methods and check.

Method 1:
I would suggest you to update the graphics card. If that doesn’t help then uninstall and reinstall the graphics card driver and check if it helps.

To uninstall graphics card driver from Device Manager, follow these steps.

a.Press Windows Key + X, choose Device Manager.

b.Expand the Display Adapters.

C.Right-click on the graphics card driver and click on Uninstall.

Restart the computer.  Download and install the graphics card driver from manufacturer’s website.

Method 2:
If that does not help, I would suggest you to reinstall Minecraft game.

a. Press Windows key + X, choose Programs and Features.

b. Right-click on the game and choose Uninstall and follow onscreen instructions.

c. Restart the computer and install the game.

Method 3:

You may also try installing the games in compatibility mode and check:

Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

a. Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website.

b. Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.

c. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 8 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

Keep us posted if you face any issues on windows in future. We will be glad to help you.

Thanks & Regards,
AS

What I don't understand is that the 'Open GL' is a problem on my laptop but not on my PC. Could it be a difference in video chips (NVidia vs Intel) or the software involved - or both. What puts the onus on Microsoft is that it did not make any difference in Windows 7. The games worked perfectly.

I'll try the manufacturer's update (Intel) but don't have any hopes. I'll see what happens ..

Microsoft seem to be trying to pass this off as a driver problem, but the evidence suggests otherwise. The driver works fine on Windows 7 and 8.x with Minecraft and other applications, but stops working on Windows 10. Other applications, such as Stellarium, report no OpenGL 2 support with this driver under Windows 10. Both Windows and Intel report the driver is up to date and as it works on previous versions of Windows that suggests the problem is Windows 10.

The problem for MS here is that they told us our hardware was Windows 10 compatible before the upgrade, as such they are unable to blame the hardware and therefore need to sort out the issue.

Can you explain how you managed to install Windows 10 with the CPU you have?  I have exactly the same Proccessor and my upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 10 keeps failing (must have tried about 40 times now) despite Windows continually nagging me to upgarde and telling me everything is compatible.   Spoke to Microsoft chap in online chat and he said my mother board was ok but my processor would have to be renewed as it didn't support NX and a couple of other abbreviations.  Now If you have definitely managed to install windows 10 then surely that would mean that the Microsoft chap I chatted with was either lying or didn't know what he was talking about?

You'll need to log into the Microsoft support site and download the standalone install package for ten. Some of the older systems have issues making it through the standard update on their own but once you get it installed the rest of the updates work fine.

Yeah, this problem has been bothering me as well. Cannot play Minecraft anymore. Before I bought this PC, it was updated. I also have a graphics card in the Express Chipset Family. Seems Windows 10 does not really work with it (the graphics card) and OpenGL.

Graphics Card

Intel(R) Q45/Q43 Express Chipset (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1)
