"Go back to an earlier build" option missing?

I inadvertently upgraded to the new Anniversary update earlier this week and would like to roll back to a previous build - however, in the settings menu, the "go back to an earlier build" option is missing entirely:

Also, when I try to access the option through the advanced troubleshooting feature on the startup screen, it gives me this vague error:

Does anyone know what might be wrong? I can't find anything about this problem online.

Note: If you reset your PC within a month of your upgrade to Windows 10, or 10 days after updating to the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, the option in Settings that lets you go back to your previous version of Windows will no longer be available.

I just applied the Anniversary update 2 hours ago and want to roll back to 1511.  The Settings > Update and Security > Recovery menu is missing the "Go back to an earlier build".

Please advise.

Did you do any "clean up" after you upgraded to the Anniversary build? How much space available on the C drive?
I'm a unpaid independent Advisor/volunteer

I am 6 days since upgrading to Windows Anniversary and the ability to revert to an early build is missing from my settings as well.

I am a developer and the update is preventing me from running my own executables or installing drivers that are unsigned, even after modifying the settings to allow for unsigned drivers.

I had to factory restart my windows to 8.1, I then updated to windows 10 anniversary and want to go to a windows 10 pre anniversary update.  Can anyone help or am I boned?

Hi,

Unless you updated to Windows 10 Anniversary from a previous build, then you will not have an option to get Windows 10 pre-Anniversary Update.

Can someone OTHER than these inane Microsoft responders PLEASE help with this error?  I am so SICK of the so-called Microsoft support agents offering NO actual assistance and then marking the issue resolved.  it is NOT resolved and YOU HAVE NOT HELPED US

I completely agree!  I don't think the Microsoft agents actually have a computer or are familiar with Windows 10... :(  Can someone from Microsoft who has actually used Windows 10 before please help???

Well ill quote from the MS Bible

1. NEVER ADMIT ANYTHING

2. Confuse the user, by using long sentences use words like describe your problem in detail, then have them do 5 steps of absolutely useless task that will never fix anything.

But just makes the user frustrated thinking his or hers PC  must have a major malfunction.

3. AND ALWAYS REMEMBER write to the user asking for help in a "GOD LIKE WAY" meaning the user is an idiot the user does not exist talk to him like hes a dog make him angry then totally ignore him and any of the other users (250.000) with the same problem.

Unless the guide to misleading Windows users has changed i believe, this is accurate.
