Windows 10 Taskbar Icons Gone?

So I recently updated my Windows, to Windows 10. Everything was going great until a day or two ago, my icons on the taskbar are disappearing or invisible, for example, I had pinned Microsoft Edge to the task bar, the space of where the icon should be is there. Although, the image of the program, isn't. Upon selecting and opening up Edge, on the task bar the blank space appears to be selected. But the Icon is still invisible. This is happening for the Windows 10 Icons. I would really love to know what is going on and if there is a way I can fix it...  


The issue might be due to corruptions of the account. Please let us know if you are facing this issue on Microsoft account or Local account.

I suggest you to perform the methods provided below:

Method 1: Run SFC (System File Checker) scan.

  1. Right click on Start button and select “Command Prompt (Admin)”.

  2. Type “sfc /scannow” and press Enter.

  3. After the scan is complete, type “exit” and press Enter.

Method 2: DISM TOOL:

  1. On the Search bar type “cmd”. Right Click on the Command Prompt option and select Run as Administrator. (If prompted for a password, type the password and click Allow).

  2. Type “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” (Without quotes).

Method 3:

Run the App troubleshooter.

  1. Type “Troubleshooting” in the search box and press Enter.

  2. Click on ‘View All’ on the top left pane.

  3. Click on “Windows Store Apps” from the list and follow the on-screen prompts for troubleshooting.
