Windows 10 : Start menu items will not remain sorted by name after renaming

Hello !
I'm using windows 10 buid 1511
I have a strange issue :
When I install a new program , a shortcut is created on start menu , and this shortcut is located correctly according to first letter , for example "Adobe Photoshop CC" , is located under "A" section on start menu.
But if I rename this shortcut to "Photoshop CC" , the shortcut remain under "A" section and will not go under "P" section as it should be.

There's no option to refresh or re-arrange items on start menu.

How can I resolve this problem ?

Thank you !

Hi,

Thank you for being part of Microsoft Community.

Build 14271 is the latest build for PC. I would request you to update to the latest build and check if it helps.

Please revert if you face any issues with Windows in future.

It's the same problem. with that build.

Actually , I've found a command on internet that claim to resolve the issue :

On PowerShell :

Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "C:\Windows\SystemApps\ShellExperienceHost_cw5n1h2txyewy\AppXManifest.xml"

But it's a strange situation with this command :

I have 3 Pc's with identical windows 10 and softwares. Both have the same problem with start menu.

When I have executed this command :

1) On the first Pc the problem is resolved instantly.

2) On the second Pc doesn't function at all , and display a message that I should close first ShellExperienceHost application.

3) On the third Pc , when this command is executed , the start menu is damaged. All the items are displayed without icons , and with strange names that are similar to web links. and nothing happens when clicking.

Maybe there's a safer method to resolve this problem ?

Hi,

Thank you for the update.

The issue could have happened due to some file corruptions. I would request you to perform a SFC scan and check if it helps.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. If a Windows Resource Protection (WRP) file is missing or is corrupted, Windows may not behave as expected.

Perform SFC(System file Checker) scan and see if it helps.

a: PressWindows key + X.

b: SelectCommand Prompt(Admin).

c: TypeSFC / scannow and hit enter.

Sorry , but I don't think there's a corruption.

I've made another test :

- I have formatted my pc , and re-installed windows 10 .

-I've made all the updates.

- After I have renamed a shortcut on start menu.

- The problem that I've described appear . so the start menu is not sorted alphabetically.

After that I've done a sfc/scannow but everything is OK.
