Unprompted "Save a Theme" error in Windows 10

I have just had an error with title "Save a Theme" and message "Windows can't find one of the files in this theme. Do you still want to save the theme?" appear, during normal use of Windows 10. I have never tried to save a theme, and did not have any settings windows open at the time. What might have caused this? Is there anything to do if it becomes a recurring error?

Questions:

Build: 10.0.10586.0
When I get the error: once, a couple of mintues after starting up. I had also started Firefox, Thunderbird and Spotify. The previous time the laptop had tried to hibernate, it hung for 10 minutes until I pressed and held the power button to interupt.

Have I made any changes: Nothing in the last couple of start-up shut-down cycles. No (deliberate) alterations to the operating system have been made since upgrading from 8.1.

Are updates pending: no.

Suggested solutions:

Method 1 found no problems.
Method 2 is ongoing, will update.

Method 2 found no problems to fix either. Strange!

Try Process Explorer. When the "Save a Theme" error occurs, have it open. Launch Process Explorer (http://www.live.sysinternals.com) and drag the bulls-eye icon on to the error message window. It shows the corresponding process or program which caused the error. See here for illustration: How to Find Which Program Caused An Unknown Error Message?

I have had this same issue - Windows 10 64 bit build 10586.164.

Right-clicking on the error icon on the taskbar reveals that the error is from "Host Process for Setting Synchronization".

This is the first time I've had this problem.

Hi,

Open Settings (WinKey + i), type Sync.

Click Sync your settings

Disable the toggle button for "Theme"

Does that help?

I too get this every once in a while. I do know I have a program that changes my background picture every now and then (John's Background Switcher), although I don't know if that's related. Maybe it is trying to change when the theme is automatically being saved?

How often does yours happen? Has it happened again?
