Microsoft Edge Missing, How To Restore It - Tried MANY Things Already

Edge is missing from my Windows 10 Pro installation.  It vanished during a routine update and nothing I can do seems to restore it.  I have done the following:

Run the troubleshooter for Windows apps:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/run-the-troubleshooter-for-windows-apps

No problems found, rebooted when done.

Check for updates for apps from Windows Store and install if you find any.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/check-for-updates-for-apps-and-games-from-windows-store#

Installed all updates, rebooted, checked for updates again and found none.

Also, check for Windows updates.

All updates installed, rebooted when done.

Try to run the following commands and check if it helps.

  1.  Type CMD in Search. Right click on it to run as an administrator.

  2. Type the following 4 commands at the CMD prompt:

WSReset.exe.

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

sfc /scannow

No problems found, rebooted when done.

powershell

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

  1. Close the CMD window.

  2. Check to see if the issue is resolved. If not, restart the PC.

DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE.

Hi,

Try signing in using a new user account and check if the issue persists

I would suggest you to create a new user account and check the issue status in the new user account. This would help us to analyze the issue to find the cause and resolution. If the new account works fine for you, add your Microsoft credentials to it and use it as your Microsoft account.

Create a user account.

Hope this information is helpful. Please do let us know if you need further assistance, we’ll be glad to assist you.

The new user has Edge, my account does not.

What is the next step in fixing my account?

I figured it out.  Once there was an account with Edge working on it, I opened PowerShell in Admin Mode and ran the following command again:

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml" -Verbose}

This then added Edge back to my regular account and it works just fine.  Now I simply have to find where Edge stores its favorites so I can import them from IE11.

EDIT - It is easy, you just do an IMPORT from the favorites tab.  It does NOT automatically fill your favorites bar, you have to drag and drop those yourself manually from the Favorites Bar folder in the Imported folder to the one Edge uses.

OK, maybe not.  What I said above IS true - but each time there is an update to the OS Edge vanishes again and I have to restore it using the above method.

It is not a good fix.
