The posts I've seen are almost a year old and I don't see any answers to any of the questions concerning drag and drop for

I can't even move files to my dropbox, and clients are waiting to download thes file, can someone help?

I found the missing drag and drop feature to be a real pain since I use a password program (kepass) to generate and protect passwords.  The drag and drop feature was a great feature.  After online research it appears that drag and drop is not enabled in windows 10.  I found a hint to enable drag and drop you needed to go into the registry editor and disable UAC which seems to have been a fix in Windows 8.  After resetting the registry value the next time I tried to use Edge I got a message saying Edge 'will not work' without UAC enabled.  So at this time the only option is to copy and paste entries, a somewhat  inelegant solution.  MS also refers to a link to a file checker link to be sure a corrupted file isn't a problem.  When you click on the link it says it only works for versions up to 8.1.  The last two weeks I have been trying to get Windows 10 to function 'at least' as friendly as 7 pro has been a sad experience.

This seems to me to be a fatal flaw in Windows 10. How can you rearrange the desktop without drag and drop? Move a shortcut from one spot on the screen to another. I want to be able to group certain items together. This is an extremely basic function and I'm amazed that there is not a huge backlash about not having this capability within Win 10. Am I that unique a user??

It frustrates so much :( I also found this disabling UAC solution when I searched for this, but I do not want that either.

I used to just drag/drop files into my 3d modeler/photoshop to easily import workfiles, but now this takes so much time, everytime I have to go through menus and explorer to go that certain file. It's annoying.

Absolutely agree that disabling UAC is not desirable either.

Exactly what problem did Microsoft solve by eliminating drag and drop? The cure is far worse than the disease, I fear.

This moves Windows further away from the Mac OS where drag and drop is absolutely fundamental.

Please give us the option to enable or disable drag and drop without any other hitches! Put that option into Settings!

Still no fix? Ridiculous!

I use D&D quite frequently, mostly to drag photos from my Pictures files to Photobucket. This no longer works.

I also cannot drag and drop files to rearrange them in folders.

I seem to remember an "Enable Drag and Drop" option on previous versions, I was thinking in Internet Options/Advanced. I cannot find it anywhere now.

Very disappointed with 10, no noticeable improvements, just lots of new problems. Browser is slower and I get a lot more malware than with 8.1.

Not Happy...

Ron, Don't waste time searching for a work around in 10. There is none. It was designed with an intended share feature that is just terrible.

I am a student, my school requires that I drop my completed PDF files into their dashboard - which in 8.1 worked PERFECTLY! After "upgrading" to 10, I spent weeks trying to discover a way to enable drag/drop - I would have even been satisfied with copy/paste - to no avail. In addition, my PDF files auto saved to Edge, not One Drive as they previously had! (although I managed to switch that in the directory)

I believe the intention in 10 is to force the user to notify others of a documents' (or in your case a pictures') location, and then give permissions for specific people to view it....which is absurd.

This share feature for 10 may work with a small percentage of documents, within working groups. Maybe they were going for something similar to the Google documents feature? But that only works in limited cicumstances, where shared viewing of an item is sufficient. Windows 10 certainly does not have the flexibility to adapt to normal "sharing" that is done between a variety of platforms, including social media.

I returned my system to 8.1 and I am very pleased.

I'm having this same problem -- on one of my computers. I can drag and drop just fine with my Dell machine, but my Powerspec refuses to let me do so. Both were upgraded to Windows 10 in the same week.

How can Drag and Drop work fine on one Windows 10 machine but not another?

By the way, I use a product called Fences on both machines, and disabling it on the problematic machine (the Powerspec) had no effect.

One of my Windows 10 computers lets me drag and drop just fine; no problems. (It's a Dell, by the way.) My other computer (a Powerspec) will not let me drag and drop. Very weird.
