How to disable/configure volume OSD/overlay that pops up when volume is adjusted?

Hello, I am loving Windows 10 so far, however this is one of the first things I would very much like to change.

I have done probably close to an hour of researching it different search terms and reading forum posts to no avail, I do not believe there is a setting for it, and if not I believe it should be added.

Does anyone here know of a registry modification or something similar I can do to disable it completely?

I had the same problem. To fix this I wrote a small utility, that hides the volume OSD.
