Windows 10 Small text and Buttons

Hello Everyone,

I recently bought a Lenovo Ideapad Y700 gaming laptop with Windows 10, and have noticed that many programs are using a very small sized font and some are using small buttons as well. I will attach a few screenshots. My screen resolution is currently 3840x2160(4K). My screen size is 15.6 inches, and I have an nvidia gtx 960m graphics card. I have tried lowering the resolution, but it didn't fix the problem. And since this is only happening with some programs, I can't change the overall percent font and icon size in settings. If anyone has a solution, please reply!

That didn't work for me. This problem is not just for fonts, its for many kinds of objects such as buttons. Most apps launch in a very small window. Any more suggestions would be appreciated.

..not a permanent fix but ctrl plus + will zoom the screen.  Had a similar problem when I set my monitor to FHD, there is also a thing under Settings, Display, then there is a thingy that says "Change the size of text, apps and other items:"

As I repeat, this isn't only a text problem, buttons and other items in certain apps are small. This doesn't happen in all apps, only in some such as windows media player, minecraft, bluestacks, dolphin emulator, etc.

I have a new ASUS laptop / windows 10 which I am setting up. When I run some (not all) installation programs they appear in a quarter size window which I cannot read. I've also just starting importing my images into Photoshop Elements 10 and that too has come up quarter size. I've tried the options above but the Change on Text Size has the options grayed out, so I am stuck.

I am having the exact same problem. I just bought a Lenovo Yoga 910 with Windows 10 pre-installed.. Most of the programs have very small buttons and tiny text, and others even run in less than a quarter of the window size, which makes it almost impossible to see what is written there.

Issue is not just with the applications. I checked many programs like Skype, they are having small buttons and text.

NOTE: the above-mentioned steps didn't work for me.

Please help me solve this problem.

Thanks.

Hi Abdulhamid,

Please provide the answers to the following for us to be able to learn more about the issue you're experiencing:

  • Is your Windows 10 updated?
  • Are your drivers up-to-date? If not yet, you can follow the steps found on this link on how to update your drivers in Windows 10.
  • When did the issue start? What are the changes made or the things you've done before the issue start? Has it always been this way even on your first time using your laptop?

Meanwhile, you can consider running the following scans to repair missing or corrupted system files:

  • System File Checker
The System File Checker or SFC is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore these corrupted files.
  • DISM or System Update Readiness tool
The DISM or Deployment Image Servicing and Management can fix component store corruption that prevents the SFC command from working properly.

Let us know the results of the scans.

Regards.

I've also had this problem from the moment I started using a new ASUS X555L windows10 laptop. It also started on an older desktop on which I installed windows 10 (complete install, not upgrade) - started as soon as I did the install.

Everything is up to date. It's extremely frustrating as my eyesight is such that I find it difficult to make out the tiny print and images. Recently I've noticed that the command prompt window is now very small with small text - I don't think it was that small from the outset, though I might be mistaken.

Adobe Photoshop Elements is particularly difficult to use with this problem as I need to be able to read the tag names, and I can barely see them.
