how to create a hibernate shortcut on my desktop in Windows 10

Several months ago a community member provided information to accomplish my above question.   Recently, I did something that caused this shortcut to stop working, I have tried everything I know to no avail and apparently the file is no longer in my computer. I would very much appreciate some help to get me back to an operational Hibernation DESKTOP SHORTCUT.

Hibernation shortcut - C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /h

Restart shortcut - C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /r /t 0

Shutdown shortcut - C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /s /t 0

To find out what the /h etc switches mean, open a command prompt and type in Shutdown /? and it will show you all the available switches.

There is no shortcut available for sleep without using third party utilities.  I use NirCmd.

Sleep shortcut - "C:\Program Files (x86)\Utilities\NirCmd\nircmd.exe" standby

Thank you for the reply, I have tried your recommendation for hibernate in the recent past, but this does not work. I have Sleep & Restart desktop shortcuts that do function, but I do not remember how I installed them based on information that was sent to be by a community member.

Do you have hibernate enabled?  If it is not enabled any more then that would explain what has been going on.

Right-click on the Start button,

Power options,

Choose what the power buttons do [on the left of the window],

Change settings that are currently unavailable [near the top of the window],

Set the checkbox for Hibernate.

Just out of interest, what is in your Sleep shortcut?  You can just right-click on the shortcut, Properties, select everything in its Target field, Ctrl-C then paste it in here.
