Windows 10 Printer Permissions

I need to rename a printer in Windows 10, but cannot access printer properties. I am logged on as administrator. How can I change permissions so that I can do this.

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

This issue could occur if the printer drivers are not compatible with the computer. I suggest you to download and install the printer drivers for the computer.

If we don't have the printer drivers for the current operating system, you can download the drivers and install them in compatibility mode. Please follow the suggestions provided by Andre Da Costa to install drivers in compatibility  mode:

How to: Install and Update drivers in Windows 10

Let us know if we could be of any help regarding to Windows in future. We’ll be glad to assist.

Hi DavGad,

How are you trying to access the printer properties?  Are you doing this from the settings app or from the Devices and Printers folder?  The Settings app doesn't have an option to change the name of the printer.  If you can post a screenshot of what is not working that would be helpful.

Thanks,
Jeff

I continue to have problems  At unpredictable times, various applications lock up when I try to print. When this happens, I have to close the application to get out.  After this occurs, I try to look at printer properties. I right click on the icon for this printer in devices and printers and when I select Printer Properties, nothing happens.

Computer: HP Pro 3000 MT  4 gb RAM

OS:  Windows 10 32 bit

Printer: LaserJet 600 M302

I have tried the following:

Deleted and reinstalled the printer in Devices and Printer

Deleted printer software and reinstalled "Full Solution" from HP

Cycled power on and off on printer

Unplugged power on printer overnight

The only thing that reliably restores the ability to print is to reboot the computer.  After I do this, it works for a while.

Hi DavGad,

Can you submit this feedback through the Windows Feedback app?  Additionally, if you are in the Windows Insider Program, when you submit feedback under the Hardware Devices and Drivers/Print there should be an option to reproduce your problem.

Thanks
